But experts say the drug is the latest in a series of drugs that could help more men regain their erections and keep their erections from falling out.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved sildenafil, Pfizer's biggest prescription-strength drug, for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED), which is a condition the body can't fight.
And the drug has been shown to help men with impotence.
But experts say Viagra has not yet been approved for clinical use.
It may be a safe and effective treatment for ED but it's not the first treatment.
Viagra is sold under the brand name Revatio. The drug was developed to treat pulmonary hypertension, a disease in which blood pressure drops more than twice as much as normal. The FDA also approved sildenafil for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, a condition in which blood vessels narrow and allow an erection to take place.
